Shayne is a 9-month-old Koala bear whose mother was hit and killed by a car. Rescuers found the little Koala terrified 65 feet from the fatal accident after he had been thrown from his mother’s back. Fortunately, Shayne was taken to the Australian Zoo. He would not have survived fending for himself, he was already being stalked by overhead birds.
Dr. Rosie Booth, the wildlife hospital director, added: “He wouldn’t have lasted even a day in the wild by himself at his young age,” and it was “very fortunate that we had an observant rescuer who found Shayne and brought him into us.”
