Soldier forced to leave stray dog he rescued in Iraq, reunites with him on the other side of earth

They served together, and together they returned home. Senator Charles Schumer has drafted a bill that could change the status of dogs used in the armed forces.

He said this at the ceremony of reunification of the former corporal, U.S. Navy Megan levy and eleven-year-old German shepherd, Rex, with whom the corporal had served in Iraq. At the time of service corporal with a dog engaged in search of explosive devices along the roads.

In 2006, a dog handler and the dog were seriously injured by the explosion of one of these devices. After treatment Megan levy was dismissed, and the dog left the Navy to continue his service.
