This owl is every time surprised when the owner picks up a video camera. Vaunted ears of an owl, which is 50 times more sensitive than humans, it is rare to see. Two feathers-covered tassels crowning the heads of many owls are not responsible for hearing at all.
The real ears are located asymmetrically and different in size, shape and position on the head. The right ear is below and directed upwards so that the bird can hear sounds from above. The left is located above and directed downwards to catch sounds from below.
They have a large, arched out eardrum, which allows owls to catch barely discernible squeaks and rustles. A hearing aid amplifies facial disc of stiff feathers that forms a channel that directs the sound directly into the ears of a predator.
